ChatGPT makes ~$130M/month on the App Store, outspending Claude and Perplexity 6x on Meta ads

ChatGPT earns an estimated $130M a month on the App Store, vs $40M for Claude and $7M for Perplexity. All three now run Meta ads, each targeting a different audience:
- ChatGPT: 5,459 live ads aimed at everyday people — older users, small business owners, daily tasks; six tell one story about two blind brothers running their nonprofit with ChatGPT. It runs 6x more ads than the other two combined.
- Claude: 388 live ads for builders — 13 of the top 27 link to "The Problem Solvers" founder videos (Lovable's Anton Osika, Cursor's Michael Truell); 9 link to the Sonnet 5.5 launch page.
- Perplexity: 498 live ads for assistant-seekers — 29 of the top 30 sell its Computer agent ("20+ AI models run your Shopify store"), and 23 open the app straight on Computer, skipping the website.
Takeaway: Claude and Perplexity sell to people already using AI; ChatGPT sells to everyone else.
