A team from University of Groningen, Politehnica Bucharest, Adobe and NVIDIA (paper: "Paved with True Intents") trained an 8B intent-aware safety classifier on just 1,275 carefully annotated prompts. It beats GPT-5.4, Claude Sonnet 4.6 and leading open-weight guardrails trained on far more data, averaged across 5 safety benchmarks — showing data quality and intent-aware training trump scale.
