Small models still produce a tiny share of tokens; routing experiment seeks feedback

yb2698 · x · 2026-10-23

The author is experimenting with routing most work to a small model with a large model intervening on demand. Even after analyzing the number of turns delegated to the small model, the observation holds: the small model still accounts for only a very small fraction of output tokens. They are considering pushing further with different small models or alternative routing mechanisms, and invite feedback.
