Alignment Journal opens submissions with paid reviews and free publishing
jankulveit · x · 2026-10-23
The Alignment Journal, Iliad's sister project under Principles of Intelligence, is now open to submissions from everyone, covering theoretical and principled work on agency, robustness, incentives, generalization, interpretability, and long-term AI behavior. Empirical studies and negative results are welcome.
Its review model is unusual: reviewers are paid (with an early-submission bonus), every accepted paper ships with a review summary, papers under review are publicly listed, and researchers can self-nominate to review. Submissions are light — a public preprint in any format; the journal handles typesetting. Free to read, free to publish. Editorial board includes Dylan Hadfield-Menell, Tim Rudner, and Seth Lazar; advisors include Paul Christiano, Marcus Hutter, Scott Aaronson, and Victoria Krakovna.
