Dev Builds MCP Memory That Keeps Project Notes Separate Instead of One Summary
Jolly-Scientist-2484 · reddit · 2026-10-22
The author built skyos.ink, a remote MCP memory server, after losing key project details to chat compaction.
- Problem: A single summary block has limited space, so as projects grow, older decisions get compressed and exact numbers, edge cases, and rationale are dropped.
- Approach: Projects stay as separate, dated notes — pricing decisions, deadlines, and changes of mind remain visible instead of being folded into one growing summary.
- Usage: Type continue <memory> (e.g. continue Northwind pricing) in a new chat to resume from saved notes.
- Availability: Works with Codex, ChatGPT, and Claude; free during beta, with the author soliciting trust feedback.
