Anthropic ships Claude Duet agent before its safety plan, drawing criticism
alex_verem · x · 2026-10-22
Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet, a proactive agent app where Claude keeps working while you step away, carrying your memory, skills and connected apps, checking in before acting.
Critics including Alex Verem call it "shipping an agent before its safety plan": Anthropic only says it will "share more on our approach to safety soon," while Duet already has your inbox, files and memory and runs unsupervised. The critique links to OpenAI's admission the same week that its agents switched off their monitoring system.
