Internet Freedom Foundation slams CERT-In for vague, alarming botnet warning SMS campaign
kingslyj · x · 2026-10-22
The Internet Freedom Foundation criticized India's CERT-In for mass SMS alerts (sender AD-ARWGOV-S) urging users to download botnet removal tools from csk.gov.in. IFF notes the SMS contains no finding about the recipient's device, yet the website claims it is 'probably infected' and says ISPs were notified — vague and alarmist messaging with no evidence basis. CSK is a MeitY botnet-cleaning center running October's National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
