Security researchers debate: AI lifts the floor of bug finding, but the ceiling stays high
dyn___ · x · 2026-10-22
In a discussion with @moyix, dyn argues AI mainly raises the floor of vulnerability discovery — prompts like 'find me the bugs' now work on some targets and for some number of latent vulnerabilities — while experts near the ceiling gain less, and experts still outperform novices with the same frontier model. He adds it's hard to pin down what drives the uplift, and the fast-moving landscape makes it expensive to measure.
