ROAD MOPD: cross-teacher guarding suppresses gradient conflict from teacher divergence

teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-22

A refinement on MOPD from JD, Cross-Teacher Guarding (ROAD MOPD), suppresses gradient conflict caused by mostly superficial teacher divergence. A primary teacher and an auxiliary teacher evaluate each student response, and their predictions are compared relative to a frozen reference model: token supervision is strengthened when teachers agree and reduced when they disagree, filtering out noisy signals.
