2002 satire resurfaces: student suspended over suspected use of PHP — the drug, apparently
kingslyj · x · 2026-10-22
A tweet unearthed a classic piece of internet memory: a 2002 BBspot satire story about a Kansas high school sophomore suspended after teachers overheard him 'using PHP.' Under a zero-tolerance drug policy, the principal suspected PHP might be 'a derivative of PCP, or maybe a new designer drug like GHB,' and parents demanded the school block all websites mentioning PHP. The ancient joke is making the rounds again.
