At the 2026 World Physical AI conference in Hangzhou, Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing gave a 30-minute keynote and debuted the new H2-X humanoid robot (up to 8h battery, can lift a car, survive a 4m drop).
Key takes
- Physical AI is showing signs of a breakthrough within 1-2 years; the industry is approaching an "embodied ChatGPT moment" — robots completing 80% of tasks from voice/text commands in 80% of unfamiliar scenarios.
- GPT-6 has been deployed zero-shot on Unitree robots, doing tasks like painting, playing Go/chess, and finding kitchen tools autonomously.
- The biggest unsolved challenge is input/output alignment error of AI models; mass production (tens of millions of units/year), physical AI models, and compute are the next bottlenecks.
- Unitree previewed "Self-Evolution V1.0," a closed loop of perception, decision, execution, evaluation, learning, and evolution.
Unitree's G1 has produced 10k-20k units since May 2024, the world's best-selling humanoid. 180 ecosystem partners were showcased. Alibaba Cloud founder Wang Jian also spoke, arguing AI and robotics may converge into something new with "soul and body" unified.
