Learning robotics for free: Claude Opus 5.5 + the Colorfigures skill explained
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-10-22
A developer replaced a $1000+ robotics starter kit with Claude Opus 5.5 plus the open-source Colorfigures skill. Built by April Zhu, the skill turns a one-sentence description into hand-inked isometric interactive HTML figures: 13 real boards (Arduino Uno, L298N, Raspberry Pi 5...), part-by-part assembly, and intentional failures — reversed caps pop, chips smoke, LEDs burn out. Figures rotate 360° with see-through internals and live part labels. Install is a single curl command into /.claude/skills, works with Claude Code, Claude.ai, ChatGPT and Gemini; a companion thread maps a 6-month robotics engineer roadmap.
