Generalist AI's GEN-1.5 puck-packing bot shows emergent physical reasoning and backtracking

Generalist AI demoed GEN-1.5 with a puck bot packing 12 hockey pucks into a tight container, self-correcting when pucks get stuck or misplaced. Chris Paxton highlighted the reliability-test segment as showing "physical reasoning": the model tries an action, fails (due to physics), backtracks, switches gears, and reaches the goal a completely different way—e.g., removing a stuck puck, making space elsewhere, then placing it back. He argues this kind of step-by-step chain-of-actions physical problem-solving should just work out of the box. GEN-1.5 waitlist is open, with details in their blog post.
