Tired of AI agent walls of text, dev makes them produce Mermaid diagrams and WireMark UI prototypes
ievkz · reddit · 2026-10-22
A developer frustrated that AI coding agents output plan.md as walls of Markdown text built a workflow to make plans visual:
- WireMark for UI prototypes: an open-source text-based wireframe DSL, concise enough for both humans and LLMs, rendering into SVG interface sketches
- Mermaid for diagrams: the de facto standard, natively supported on GitHub since 2022, and readily generated by LLMs
- Rules added to AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md: plans should favor prototypes and diagrams over prose, with one Wireframe block per screen — after which Codex, Claude Code and Pi started producing visual plan.md files
- blueprint4llm, his new open-source tool, solves rendering: export plan.md to HTML/PDF with diagrams rendered, or run --serve for a local preview server
The whole setup is reproducible today: tweak your AGENTS.md rules and install the renderer to turn agent plans from text walls into visual documents.
