Author playbook: tiered preorder rewards and 'AI-proofing' your book with firsthand stories

Notes from the NYC author lunch cohosted by Alex & Books:
1) Build multiple tiers of preorder rewards. Most authors offer only one preorder bonus. Convert services people already pay you for into rewards: a 30-minute coaching session for ordering 25 copies, a 1-hour virtual keynote for 100.
2) AI-proof your book. A standard how-to book can easily be written or summarized by AI; include more personal stories and firsthand experience instead.
Laurence Moroney adds a practical takeaway: list three experiences only you could write about, build your chapter around one, and reserve AI for research, quote-checking, and podcast outreach emails.
