AXA, Vaisala and others deploy NVIDIA Earth-2 open weather models in production
NVIDIA Blog · rss · 2026-10-22
NVIDIA detailed European adoption of its open Earth-2 weather and climate model family:
- New StormScope EU: a regional short-term forecasting model trained on European data, predicting evolving cloud conditions across 16 Meteosat channels at 10-minute intervals using EUMETSAT observations; a live pipeline with Earthmover is demoed at GTC Berlin.
- Developers can combine StormScope for short-term forecasts with CorrDiff for local downscaling, and use the PhysicsNeMo framework to train new environmental applications.
- Use cases: AXA uses FourCastNet 3 to study regional cyclone risk across 1,000+ simulated seasons beyond the historical record; Vaisala Xweather augments short-term warnings with lightning data; University of Manchester adapted CorrDiff for UK air-quality modeling, trained on Isambard-AI and run locally on DGX Spark; TotalEnergies explores solar-radiation nowcasts; Space42 built SARDiff4Height to estimate surface heights from radar with uncertainty maps.
