ChapterPal solo dev: AI builds any feature in 15-30 min, growth is the real bottleneck
burkov · x · 2026-10-22
Burkov, author of ChapterPal, says engineers and CS students regularly offer to help code features — but any feature he can think of takes him just 15-30 minutes with AI agents, and he rarely even tests them (only visual stuff, mostly delegated to the agent).
What he actually needs: help bringing in more users, and converting/validating books far faster than he can alone — the unglamorous work nobody volunteers for. A vivid data point that in the AI era, coding is no longer the indie dev bottleneck; distribution and operations are.
