Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle detailed an emergency response: after a PHP vulnerability was announced, attacks came quickly. The team isolated the flaw, used Claude to generate fixes for their legacy PHP versions, ran simulated attacks with local models, deployed, and reinforced their WAF. The site briefly went offline and is now back. Kahle praised ops staff as heroes and noted the severity could have caused real-world damage across many organizations.
