MIT programs NK cells in vivo with lipid nanoparticles, eliminating tumors in models
MacrinePhD · x · 2026-10-22
MIT engineers developed an in vivo approach using lipid nanoparticles to deliver mRNA encoding targeted CAR constructs, programming natural killer (NK) cells directly inside the body and bypassing complex ex vivo cell manufacturing.
In models, the method successfully eliminated tumors and healed autoimmune hepatitis, pointing to new routes for treating cancer and T cell disorders.
