WSJ: SpaceX AI unit hits $7.56B quarterly revenue as Musk weighs Tesla merger
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-22
Per WSJ, Musk wants to combine his $2T rocket company with $1.5T carmaker Tesla around AI. SpaceX's AI unit is now its largest business: Q3 revenue of $7.56B (vs $813M a year ago), with over $16.4B of its $19.6B quarterly capex going to AI. That swung SpaceX to a $4.4B quarterly profit, giving it the financial weight to absorb Tesla rather than the reverse. The merger logic treats Tesla's robotaxis and Optimus as the front end, with SpaceX's data centers and satellite links as the infrastructure.
