ScreenCalib: LiDAR-camera extrinsic calibration using any ordinary display, code open-sourced
ssh4net · x · 2026-10-22
- ScreenCalib (Zou et al.) performs LiDAR–camera extrinsic calibration with any ordinary programmable display — phone, tablet, laptop, monitor, or TV — instead of a dedicated calibration target.
- The screen shows AprilTags for the camera while the LiDAR measures the physical screen surface; the pipeline uses tag-guided display extraction, geometric hypothesis generation with ICP refinement, and scene edges to resolve cross-modal ambiguity.
- It offers a single-pose mode requiring just one static frame, plus multi-pose joint scale and extrinsic refinement — cutting deployment burden versus target-based methods while keeping known geometry priors.
- Paper and GPL3 code are publicly available.
