CISO greentext: our approvals take days, the attacker's AI agent just keeps typing
zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-10-22
A viral greentext-style rant written from a CISO's perspective, skewering how corporate security bureaucracy fails against AI-agent-powered attackers:
- Three approvals to patch one server — mistaking bureaucracy for defense in depth — while the incident queue fills with PHP2Shell, Railway, Node.js, LiteLLM, GitLab, eMudhra and OpenCode exploits.
- When the board asks if it's nation-state hackers, the answer must be yes, because "Discord dipshit with autocomplete" looks bad on the insurance form.
- The core contrast: the attacker types "try again" and his agent keeps working; the defender needs approval just to access logs, and by the time the ticket clears, the attacker already has admin.
- Punchline: asked whether AI improved productivity — "our chatbot writes the apology, their chatbot writes the ransom, both thank us for being a valued customer."
An exaggerated but pointed take on attackers' cost collapsing via AI while defenders stay stuck in process.
