DeepSeek's V4.1 pricing may starve rivals and squeeze neoclouds, analyst argues
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-22
Responding to a conspiracy theory that DeepSeek's cheap pricing is a Chinese government ploy to starve Western labs, teortaxesTex offers a colder commercial read: the strong, cheap, no-strings V4.1 line destroys the case for Western partners hosting models like K3 ($3/$15), cutting revenue to domestic rivals. DeepInfer only serves V4.1-shaped models, and low prices have created common knowledge that compute is profitable even at 'shockingly low' prices — neoclouds will now charge premiums. Flash needs a full NVL72 GB200 rack to hit these margins, and hypothetical V4.1 Pro/Ultra would worsen the compute squeeze.
