AI 2027 team unveils Plan A: open all AI research, mutually assured compute destruction
louisvarge · x · 2026-10-22
The AI 2027 team (Thomas Larsen, Romeo Dean, Eli Lifland, Ryan Greenblatt, Daniel Kokotajlo, etc.) released "AI 2040: Plan A," a positive scenario calling for delaying superintelligence until 2040, making all AI research public, letting dozens of companies globally catch up, and entering a regime of "mutually assured compute destruction" via an international deal with total R&D transparency. The authors stress it's a recommendation, not a prediction. Sharer louisvarge argues that without mandatory openness, most minds will soon be constrained in what they're even allowed to think about.
