Developer Nathan Wilbanks rebuilt Mario Kart as an ASCII-art game rendered with shaders, fully playable in the browser — the entire game is only 1,036 KB. It follows gdechichi's ASCII Minecraft, which weighs just 158 kB and also runs in a browser tab. Both are extreme minimalism showcases: classic games drawn entirely as characters via GPU shaders, playable instantly online.
