Altman floats three AI endgames, including one lab 'melting everyone else's GPUs'

Per The Information, Sam Altman told OpenAI staff about three possible AI endgames: one lab achieving recursive self-improvement and gaining the economic power to "melt everyone else's GPUs" (dubbed the "Eliezer plan," which he called terrible); an IAEA-style international regulator, which he seemed to favor; or merging major labs into a CERN-like organization dubbed the "Demis plan" after Demis Hassabis. Altman said OpenAI must pick a path to push for within a year while not losing ground to rivals now.
