Guanya Shi announced a new CMU Robotics graduate course (16-863, Special Topics: Humanoid Learning) launching Spring 2027, taking a humanoid-centric, hands-on approach.
- Part I: lectures on kinematics, dynamics, RL & imitation learning, human motion retargeting, and sim-to-real transfer, plus team labs training and deploying policies on real humanoids.
- Part II: research seminar covering humanoid foundation models, dexterous manipulation, perceptive locomotion, and real-to-sim construction, with an open-ended team project.
- Every team gets its own (small) humanoid robot, and all lecture slides and code will be open-sourced.
