Signal65: NVIDIA Vera CPU beats leading x86 by 1.64x per core on agentic workloads
ryanshrout · x · 2026-10-22
Signal65 published a validation report on NVIDIA's Vera CPU (the CPU half of Rubin, also sold standalone) for agentic workloads, showcased by NVIDIA at GTC Berlin.
- Rationale: agents spend much of their time outside the model — compiling, running tests, cloning repos — so the agent loop is often CPU-bound, and per-core performance determines how fast agents return to the model
- Methodology: one sandbox per physical core at full load, measuring task completion time; results show 1.64x per core against a leading x86 processor, and a 1.87x geometric-mean advantage across the 20 tasks closest to day-to-day agent work (19 of 20 favoring Vera), with up to 2x peak per-core throughput
- The test will fold into Signal65's PINNACLE benchmark; note it's a vendor-collaborative study authored by Signal65 president Ryan Shrout
