Deterministic agentic compliance pipeline fails to escalate violation in 1 of 4 runs
ycombinator · x · 2026-10-22
Cyril Gorlla shared a striking test result: an agentic compliance pipeline failed to escalate a violation to the Head of Compliance in one out of four runs. Even with a fully deterministic model producing 800 identical replies, the same banking manual still yielded four different sets of obligations.
The case highlights how small divergences across multi-step agent pipelines amplify into materially different outcomes — a serious reliability concern for compliance and other high-stakes domains. Retweeted by Y Combinator.
