YouTube Auto-Pauses Uploads and Livestreams When It Detects a Hacked Channel
iamaliveix · x · 2026-10-22
YouTube announced a new "temporary feature pause" security feature: when unusual or unauthorized activity suggests a channel has been hijacked, it automatically blocks uploads, livestreams, playlist edits, custom thumbnails and privacy changes to stop hackers from locking out owners and posting unwanted content.
Existing videos stay watchable and monetization status is unaffected during the pause. YouTube's security teams typically review within 24 hours, restoring full access once account security is verified.
