Recursive releases Flint: 40B MoE local coding model, built in 4 months
_rockt · x · 2026-10-22
- Recursive, Richard Socher's company, released its first model Flint: a 40B-parameter MoE with open weights on Hugging Face, built for fast on-device agentic coding.
- Speed is the headline: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro and 150+ on a 64GB RTX Spark for short contexts — claimed up to 2x faster than comparable models, private and unmetered.
- Flint was built from scratch in under 4 months by Recursive's automated research system, the Eureka Machine; available via Ollama (ollama run flint) and pluggable into Claude Code.
