Recursive (Caiming Xiong) releases Flint, an open-weights local coding agent model
ChengleiSi · x · 2026-10-22
Recursive, with Caiming Xiong, released its first model, Recursive Flint — a fast local model for coding agents built by its automated research system, the Eureka Machine. Open weights are on Hugging Face.
- Run locally via the rec engine (auto-wires Pi/OpenCode), Ollama, Unsloth, LM Studio, or llama.cpp;
- Connects to coding harnesses including OpenCode, Pi, and OpenHands; servable with SGLang/vLLM, or use the free hosted Flint-40B (rate-limited);
- The team frames Flint as the first output of its next-gen AI training exploration, with more to come.
