OpenFill brings free Generative Fill to GIMP 3 via local ComfyUI, runs on old GTX cards
Speedeee_ · reddit · 2026-10-22
Not wanting to pay Adobe a monthly fee for Generative Fill, developer Beckett Harriman built OpenFill, an open-source plugin for GIMP 3 powered by your own local ComfyUI:
- Generative Fill (select + type), prompt-free object removal, Generative Expand on any side or ratio, and text-to-image
- No node graphs needed: ComfyUI starts hidden in the background, shuts down when GIMP closes, and works with any local model
- beta.2 fixes community-reported issues: older GTX 10-series cards now work, a warning when ComfyUI runs on CPU, live previews, and FLUX Fill Q6K for 12GB GPUs
