X-Scientist matches human perturbation hit rates (7.1% vs 6.9%) while screening 10x faster

Testing experimental design, Xaira asked X-Scientist to nominate genetic perturbations reversing a TGF-β-induced response in liver cells. It achieved a 7.1% hit rate across 381 nominations — matching human curation's 6.9% across 321 and far above random's 0.9% — in 20 minutes versus 3+ hours for humans, a roughly 10x speedup. It recovered known pathway genes (TGFBR1, TGFBR2, SMAD3, SMAD4) and surfaced non-canonical hits, which the team finds most exciting.
