Josh Tobin launches Flint, a local agentic coding model running on Ollama and llama.cpp

Josh Tobin (founder of Recursive) released Flint, a model for fast, local agentic coding built with Recursive's autoresearch system, the Eureka Machine. It runs locally or in the cloud.
- Local runtimes: rec (recommended on Mac), Ollama, Unsloth, LM Studio, llama.cpp (GGUF)
- Connects to coding harnesses like OpenCode, Pi, and OpenHands; a hosted Flint-40B is available on a free tier with capacity/rate limits
- GPU serving via SGLang or vLLM; load in Python via Transformers
Tobin's thesis: powerful cloud agents and increasingly capable local models will coexist—Flint is Recursive's first step toward that local future.
