In follow-ups to the Flint launch thread, Josh Tobin says Flint won't replace frontier cloud models, but he expects users to reach for it surprisingly often for fast, iterative everyday making alongside cloud agents on big projects.
Flint was built from scratch in under four months by a small team with Recursive's automated research system, which contributed everything from training recipes to inference kernels; he claims it leads MoE models under 50B total parameters on agentic coding benchmarks.
