DeepMind team makes new discoveries on the 6th Busy Beaver number, shares resources

Google DeepMind's Discovery team, led by student researcher Marco Santos, spent the past year making new discoveries on BB(6), one of the most beautiful open problems at the edge of computation. Unlike most AI math systems that tackle human-generated problems like theorems, this work explores a different kind of mathematical creativity: discovering unknown structures. The author also compiled learning resources: a Lean 4 repo, Cryptids Wiki, the Busy Beaver Challenge Wiki, Beaver Math Olympiad, and the BB(6) Coq GitHub repo.
