Micron details AI-class NAND: high-IOPS and high-bandwidth lines for KV cache and long context
BenBajarin · x · 2026-10-21
Sharing more from Micron's ($MU) technology day, Ben Bajarin notes memory roadmaps are segmenting into AI-class solutions. The slide details two AI-class NAND designs: high-IOPS SLC NAND for GPU-initiated, small-block access beyond system memory (vector search, graph analytics, AI context access), and high-bandwidth TSV-stacked NAND with a logic base die serving as a high-capacity tier near the accelerator (model weights, long context, KV cache). The pitch: more data closer to compute improves utilization, scalability and system efficiency.
