OpenAI offered 100% off to stop a cancellation, then charged twice and stonewalled for 6 weeks

A Reddit user details six weeks of support battles over £16.67: after accepting OpenAI's retention offer (100% off Plus for a month, displayed on the billing page), they were charged anyway on Sept 8. Support gave contradictory explanations, then confirmed in writing on Sept 27 that October would be free — and charged them again on Oct 8, with the discount date quietly sliding to November. Escalation ended with support claiming it couldn't find the August offer and asking the user to screenshot OpenAI's own confirmation email. All over £16.67.
