Cloudflare: Bots Hit 57.5% of Web Traffic, Agent Traffic to 1000x Human in 5 Years
shashib · x · 2026-10-21
At Connect 2026, Cloudflare co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince warned that AI agents will favor the businesses they know most about, making small businesses harder to find. Example: an agent asked for a lunch spot reads thousands of restaurant sites, only one wins the visit — and the losers still pay to answer the agent.
Cloudflare's own data backs this up:
- Automated requests now account for 57.5% of page requests;
- Over 600B agent requests hit Cloudflare last quarter, yet fewer than 1 in 10 bots identify themselves;
- Cloudflare blocks roughly 310B attacks per day in 2026.
Prince expects agent traffic to reach 1000x human traffic within five years, admitting his earlier forecasts ran too conservative. With 10M+ developers building on Cloudflare, the company is shipping tools to help businesses get found by agents, recognize them, and get paid.
