Anthropic's chip debt now tops 10% vs 8.5% four months ago, pressuring a swift IPO

Per Axios, private credit is getting pricier: Anthropic is now offering Blackstone over 10% on chip debt, up from 8.5% just 4 months ago, versus about 7% for similarly rated public borrowers — every month of delay means worse terms. Much of its $518B core compute plan must be paid whether or not capacity gets used, so Anthropic needs long-term funding locked in. OpenAI took months to raise $120B+ in the largest private round ever, and investors doubt a raise that size can repeat in a jittery market, making an IPO the only route at that scale.
