RFD4-Proteina: one open model for protein sequence and all-atom design, 76 passing designs per GPU-hour
AllThingsApx · x · 2026-10-21
David Baker's lab and NVIDIA released RFD4-Proteina (BSD-3), folding protein sequence and all-atom structure generation into a single model.
- Reported results: 76.40 passing designs per GPU-hour across 24 binding targets vs 13.24 for the next-best method
- Architecture: a flow-matching model paired with an autoencoder representing each residue/nucleotide/sugar as an anchor-atom coordinate plus a latent encoding chemical identity and local geometry; the decoder expands these into all-atom structures and sequences, cutting handoff losses between backbone/sequence/structure models
- Generates proteins in molecular contexts including other proteins, small molecules, nucleic acids, glycans, metal ions and modified residues
- Free to try on HF Spaces, with a repeatable define-generate-refine workflow
