Sentence Transformers v6.2.0 is out with headline features:
- Model merging built on Arcee's mergekit, supporting all four model types (dense, sparse, rerankers, multi-vector) with Linear, SLERP, TIES, DARE and more
- Faster loading: the Hub revision is resolved once and reused across downloads; all-MiniLM-L6-v2 drops from 6.39s to 2.66s, with 43-61% faster loading across four tested models
- DDP-friendly evaluation: evaluators automatically share encode()/predict() across training ranks; rank zero aggregates full-dataset metrics for checkpoint selection and early stopping
Also includes lower-memory losses, multi-vector improvements and many fixes.
