Flats: open-source self-hosted alternative to Claude Artifacts for agent-built sites
victorialslocum · x · 2026-10-21
Flats, an open-source GitHub project, offers a self-hosted alternative to Claude Artifacts/Sites: a single Go binary that turns your own machine into a host for what your agents build.
- Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or any MCP client, so open-source models work too
- Agents can create websites (static sites or sandboxed apps with SQLite), single-page artifacts (charts/reports), live Markdown documents, and HTML design boards/prototypes
- Work is saved as private drafts first; deploying a version requires manual approval in the console
- Quick start: flats save-draft hello ./hello, then flats deploy --flat hello --version 1, then visit hello.localhost:7879
The author finds sharing the most interesting part: showing agent-built sites is normally awkward, while Flats supports it natively.
