Robotiq's 2FC gripper senses contact at 1000Hz with 28 taxels per fingertip

Robotiq's 2FC gripper interprets contact on the tool itself, at the moment it happens. The author argues that vision, demonstrations and simulation all miss the decisive moment of a grasp—that data lives at the contact patch, occluded by fingers and needing far faster sampling than any vision loop. Specs: 28 taxels per fingertip (4×7), 1000Hz dynamic sensing, 3-axis IMU, millisecond-timestamped pressure/vibration/proprioception in one frame. On-gripper skills include grasp confidence, incipient slip detection, in-hand pose and grip verification.
