Tsinghua AIR spinoff's AI Hospital deploys multi-agent doctor avatars in real clinics, 30% efficiency gain

Zijing AI Health, spun off from Tsinghua AIR (founded by Ya-Qin Zhang), upgraded its 'Agent Hospital' system with multidisciplinary human-agent collaboration: each physician gets an AI avatar, and for cross-department cases multiple specialist avatars join via on-demand reminders or consultation mode, front-loading MDT-style support into routine visits. Disagreements between avatars are highlighted, not resolved—the human doctor makes the final call.
The core SEAL architecture trains agents in a virtual hospital with millions of simulated patients, then fine-tunes on real clinical feedback. Results: 54 AI doctors covering thousands of diseases; 18 clinical departments and 40+ doctors at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital using it routinely with a 30% efficiency gain; MedQA accuracy above 96%. The team's 2024 Agent Hospital paper was billed as the world's first AI hospital and highlighted by Nature.
