Dev builds grip, a pre-push hook that makes Claude quiz you on your own code before git push

After months of Claude Code writing most of his code, a Redditor realized he couldn't explain his own PRs. He built grip, an open-source git pre-push hook that reads your diff, asks five questions and grades your answers — below the pass mark, the push waits. It reuses your existing Claude Code install (no API key), ships a /grip skill where Claude asks questions but is forbidden to answer them, and includes a gate blocking Claude from running git push until you pass. The newest mode renders your change as a browser whiteboard, inspired by Mitchell Hashimoto's "whiteboard defense" post.
