Musk: SpaceX to cast turbine blades for faster power plants; first TeraFab test chip targeted mid-2026
elonmusk · x · 2026-10-21
Elon Musk revealed SpaceX is repurposing its rocket-engine casting capability — which he calls the most advanced on Earth — to make turbine blades and vanes, potentially bringing power online 12-18 months sooner than competitors. On chipmaking, he set internal targets of a functional test chip (SRAM-class) around May-June 2026 and volume production around Q3 2028 for TeraFab, crediting ASML for accelerating equipment deliveries, while stressing large error bars on the timeline.
