Vertex Venture partner Xia Zhijin: embodied AI won't be winner-take-all
创业邦 · wechat · 2026-10-21
At DEMOCHINA, Chuangyebang interviewed Xia Zhijin, managing partner at Vertex Venture China (early backer of Unitree, plus Songyan Dynamics, Oceanalpha and others).
- Endgame: rich, diverse scenarios mean lower concentration than even autos — no winner-take-all; vertical players in marine, agriculture and logistics can each become segment leaders
- Timeline: adoption is gradual; task-specific robots first, generalization 5+ years out; robots should evolve for efficiency, not mimic humans
- Data bottleneck: embodied data is costly and low-density — the key precondition for scaling; data companies must layer cleaning/labeling/modeling on top or face price wars
- Simulation: proven since the autonomous-driving era to cover corner cases, useful across pre- and post-training
