Linux kernel drops AI-assisted code disclosure requirement in Torvalds merge
chessboardtable · reddit · 2026-10-21
- Torvalds merged the docs-7.4 pull, which removes the "Assisted-by" requirement — new code submissions no longer need to declare AI assistance, as concluded at the Maintainer Summit.
- The same batch adds an AGENTS.md symlink at the top level, hoping LLMs will read it and produce better work, plus a new "testdocs" make target for docs unit tests.
